Sue recently took a trip to Australia's Outback and spent nearly two months travelling 12,000 kilometres to Cape Tribulation in the far north-east before heading inland to Tennant Creek, Alice Springs and Ayers Rock in the Red Centre. "I was out there on my own", she says, "and had to be totally reliant on myself, both on an emotional level and on a level of daily survival." She slept in her car and in backpackers' accommodation and one morning, having wound down the window to let some air in, she awoke to find a wild camel poking his head in at her and snorting. Although rough at times, the trip has left Sue totally in awe of this country and she has immortalised her respect for the land and its colours through her art. "The colours out there sweep you away - I didn't believe the colours could be so vibrant", she says. "I felt lucky to be a part of this beautiful, strong and ancient land." Sue was so inspired by the landscape that she travelled through that she couldn't resist painting these pictures. Also here are three paintings of Nikki who is Sue's favourite model - ours also if you must know.
